Join us on Monday, September 6, 2021, at 11 am for our annual Labor Day Ducky Derby at Knight's Action Park! Proceeds from this event will support the families at Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois. All ducks purchased will be entered to race the Ducky Derby in the Wild River at Knight's Action Park on Labor Day afternoon! Admission is free to watch the race and children are welcome!

April was National Volunteer Month! Our regular volunteer opportunities have continued to be suspended for the safety of our guests and their families. However, we cannot stress enough how much we miss and value the work our volunteers do at both the Peoria and Springfield Houses. From greeting guests and helping keep things tidy to making meals and stocking our shelves with supplies, you are the heart of what makes both central Illinois Houses a home. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you do and we hope to see you soon!

Katie Alsup, Springfield program director for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, joins Bea Bonner on NPR Illinois' Community Voices to share the services they provide to families with ill children. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois provides a supportive place for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children.

In June 2019, Katie Hahn was surprised to learn that she was in labor with her daughter, Nora, a full two months before her due date. Because Nora was born early, she needed to be monitored in the NICU at St. John’s hospital, which was about a 45-minute drive from Katie’s home in Decatur.

This is Emma. She was born in 2007, with a rare genetic disorder called Prader-Willi syndrome. Prader-Willi is a complex genetic condition that affects many parts of the body. For many years, Emma was doing well and her parents and family had managed the syndrome with few issues.
